[dropcap2 variation=”coffee”]C[/dropcap2]onversations with Eunice were disjointed and unpredictable, but never dull. Her dementia-riddled mind convinced her she was on a cruise. She called me “Captain.”
Once she popped off with the following: “I was doing all the bossing. Then I woke up.”
I never boss anybody. I just give good advice (that nobody asks for). I just help organize (what’s fine before I stick my nose into it). I just do for others (what they can do for themselves).
Maybe I need to wake up.
Bossing is a form of control. Control keeps us from healing.
Relinquishing control? Scary. Yet we’re not in control to begin with. Maybe letting go is one step closer to living in reality.
Sounds like an adventure that requires courage.
What can you release today?
Say this with me: Healing beckons me to relinquish control I never had. This takes new courage.
Put down those bricks. Release those burdens. Travel light, and live courageously today.
