[dropcap2 variation=”coffee”]”H[/dropcap2]ey! Where’s our bad joke?” Sandy demanded.
I teach Bible studies at assisted living facilities and nursing homes. I begin by telling extremely bad jokes. I frequently embarrass myself. The residents love it.
One day I forgot. Sandy called me on it.
“Okay, okay!” I responded. “What do you call a cow with only one leg?”
“What?”
“A steak!” (Get it? A stake?).
Groans. Eye-rolls.
“What do you call a cow with no legs?”
“What?”
“Ground beef!”
Louder groans. Wider eye-rolls.
Research shows laughter is priceless medicine. It strengthens the immune system, boosts energy, and diminishes pain.
It’s time to spread some laughs. Are we willing to laugh at ourselves? That’s where some of the best humor will be found.
That takes courage.
Say it with me: Living courageously involves learning to laugh – especially at myself.
Live courageously. Laugh.
