[dropcap2 variation=”coffee”]”B[/dropcap2]ill had a dream that he died,” Sally said. “When he woke up, he looked at me and said, ‘Well, now what do we do?’ I said, ‘What do you mean, honey?’ And he said, ‘Well, we’re dead, aren’t we?’”
“I couldn’t help it. I just burst out laughing,” Sally giggled.
Bill had suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for almost 50 years. He desperately wanted to die. Now he was dreaming about it.
When I asked Bill about his dream, he began to tear up.
“When I realized I wasn’t dead, I was terribly disappointed. In the dream, a wind blew through me, and cleaned all the yuck out of my heart. Then I died,” Bill said.
“Maybe I need some cleaning out.”
Yuck in the heart. We’re all pretty familiar with that.
Yes, we can blame others for this or that, but that rarely does any good. Most of the time, it simply adds to our own yuck. If not dealt with well, yuck builds up and leaks out onto those we love. We need a divine wind to come and blow our crud away.
Bill let God do some cleaning out over the next couple of weeks. He looked far more relaxed and at peace.
One morning Sally called and told me Bill had passed during the night.
“Gary, it was weird,” she said. “I could swear a breeze blew through the room right before he died. Now what do you think of that?”
